Getting Ezine Articles and Content
by Ryan Ambrose

Starting and growing an ezine can be rewarding, but they have one big requirement: They need content, on a schedule, and in some quantity. Fortunately, there are several good ways to get it.

The big one, obviously, is to write your own articles. I do that quite a bit myself, as I have a blog and an ezine, and I recommend it to you. But what happens if the publication date is due and you're drawing a blank as what to include, or suffering writer's block?

Here are a few things you can do:

- Go to a free article directory: The authors there will let you use their articles for your ezine so long as you keep their resource boxes intact. Articles are constantly being added to these sorts of sites, so there's a good chance there will always be one there that you can use. However, this is best kept as supplemental content, because if nothing is original about your ezine, there's no reason to keep subscribed to your ezine.

- Write about current events in your topic: Things are always happening in your industry, niche, or hobby, and it pays to keep up with them. They make great commentary and opinion article subjects, or just simple news reports.

- Keep your articles narrowly focused: Don't write everything about everything in an article. Any given subject can be broken down into specific topics which can be written into short, informative, interesting articles. This keeps you from writing rambling pieces, boring your reader, and running out of things to discuss.

- Don't make your ezine too specific: This is the reverse of the article writing concept. If you narrow the subject of your ezine too tightly, you'll start running into subject fatigue, both for you and your readers. It's why I and other people I've read keep long listings of related subjects handy. It's easier to continue generating content when you have a longer list of topics to use.

So, if you're running out of ideas for ezine content, these suggestions should help you get back on track.
